Which burns more calories running or walking?

I heard someone say that a fast walk burns more calories than jogging or running. But I guess this is both true and false... Walking can burn more calories or fat because most of the calories that you burn while walking come from fat. This is generally true of most low-intensity exercises. Example: You walk for 60 minutes and burn 200 calories. And the percentage of fat burned for energy during walking can be between 60 - 80% depending on various factors.
If we use 80%, then 80% of 200 calories means you've burned 160 calories of fat.
Now for running or jogging, you burn around 30-50% of fat Calories (much less than walking. However if you run for 60 minutes chances are you will burn a lot more calories, perhaps even 500 calories. Using 50% you will 250 calories of fat. Still more than walking.
So, yes, walking burns more fat (as a percentage of total calories burned) but what it really comes down to is exercise intensity.
