Struggling to lose weight after pregnancy?
by Sarah
(Boston)
Boy, did I struggle to lose weight after my pregnancy. I picked up 15 pounds during my pregnancy and they stuck to me like day old porridge. I decided to get on top of the situation by making some mental changes i.e. working on my will power, kicking myself in the behind and motivating myself to do just those extra little things. I started walking during my lunch hours (when the weather permitted) and always After I'd had lunch.
I heard before that by exercising lightly after lunch forces your body to use up those calories you just consumed and increase your metabolism.
Well, I can honestly say that the walking during lunch and all the little extra things that people suggest, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator and parking the car in a parking spot not directly in front of the supermarkets door (less stress anyway) they all helped me lose weight. I figure that by doing just that I walked on average an extra 2 miles a day. Doesn't sound like much but after 3 months I was almost back to my original weight before my pregnancy!
Of course, it doesn't matter if you don't watch your diet, so I combined that with a lower calorie lunch (it wasn't even that healthy food, but I ate less). I think the advice that hit home was also the paragraph in bold on the lower abs exercise page of Fatburn secrets. About how we make things so much more difficult for ourselves if we don't at least try to help ourselves a little with proper nutrition.
