Nutrition & Healthy Diet For Athletes & Weight Training Activities. So you've been training for a while now, but you're beginning to wonder whether you're eating healthy enough.
Sometimes knowing what and how much to eat can be a tricky part of fitness and weight training, but it is also a very important part. What you feed your engine will dramatically affect the performance of your body.
The basic rule is to eat unprocessed foods that are closest to their natural state so that you can get the greatest nutritional value possible. Whole grains, lean meats, eggs, (raw or steamed) vegetables, fish, chicken, fruits and beans are good choices but this is certainly not a definitive list.
To progress in weight training it will most likely be necessary to increase protein intake, especially after training regimes, as this is when your body is at optimal condition for rebuilding and muscle growth.
I sometimes take protein supplements (whey protein seems to be the best quality and works best for me) to get enough quality protein without eating too much fat.
