Benefits of Water Aerobics Exercises and Routines. Aquatic aerobics, or water aerobics, is a very effective and safe way to get into shape. Exercises are done in a swimming pool while an instructor demonstrates various arm, leg and core exercises.
These water aerobics exercises are usually done to rhythmic energetic music and sometimes weights are included in the routine for added resistance.
Water aerobics sessions usually begin with warm-up exercises, like slow cardio and stretching exercises, and also end with a cool-down. Usually around 500-700 calories are burned in a 45 minute to 1 hour session, making water aerobics one of the best calorie burning workouts around.
Benefits of Water Aerobics Exercises
Like other aerobic workouts, water exercises help you to lose weight, lower blood sugar levels and reduce stress. But aqua aerobics has many additional benefits over land based aerobics. The buoyancy of water helps support body weight, so virtually all ages and levels of health can do aquatic exercises.
Swimming pool exercises are ideal for beginners. It conditions most of the muscle groups, and the lungs and heart, and is therefore good preparation for other land based exercise routines. Plus, it builds cardio-respiratory and muscular endurance in a much gentler fashion.
Overweight people also appreciate the minimal stress on joints and ligaments compared to conventional aerobics. This also reduces chances of injury and creates an enjoyable workout - a great motivating factor to keep with exercise routines.
Benefits of Water Aerobics People recovering from injury or surgery, or people with heart problems, or health conditions like arthritis, backache, osteoporosis etc. love the cushioning effect of the water. The exercises are much gentler on the body, but still provide a very effective workout.
Many sporting professionals with injuries (from football to gymnastics) use water exercises for rehabilitation. They strengthen muscles and even perform exercises concentrating on the injured parts to quicken the recovery.
Water aerobics exercises are also beneficial to pregnant women. Usually pregnant women find conventional exercises quite difficult and there is always the risk of injury to the hips, back, or other body parts. This fear of injury, is often the reason why pregnant women give up exercising altogether. But this is the same time when pregnant women need to be at their fittest, for a better birth process, and to be a healthier mom.
Senior citizens love water aerobics. Many elderly people suffer from conditions like brittle bones and have trouble moving painful joints. The water?s gentleness helps protect them from injury risks and creates an ambient for increased motor functions that is not normally possible. It's also a great way to overcome loneliness and form new friendships.
On the whole, the benefits of water aerobics exercises are plain to see. They can be a fun way to work out, and exercises are usually met with enthusiasm and anticipation.
